MURDER AT MOORESTONES MANOR

Introducing Boonah Playmakers, a group created to provide theatrical opportunities for the community.

All members of the Boonah & District Cultural Foundation Inc., the Boonah Playmakers will present ‘Murder at Moorstones Manor’, a Ripping Yarn by Michael Palin and Terry Jones. (Adapted as a radio-play by Julie Vellacott, Adam Libke and Simone-Maree Libke.)

Thanks to Michael Palin and the Estate of Terry Jones for granting permission to perform the play.

A staged radio play means no lines to learn!  Just the chance to perform on stage, demonstrate your amazing voice and have fun.

Auditions will take place at Boonah Cultural Centre on Thursday 14 March from 3.30pm to 6pm.

Performances will be on Saturday 31 August at 7pm and Sunday 1 September at 2pm as part of the Ritchies Boonah Arts Festival.

CHARACTERS & ROLES
Unless otherwise specified, all characters speak with an Oxford accent.
The play is set in the 1920s. It is a murder/comedy/spoof. See the original production here.

BBC Voice Over (V.O) – Mature male, ‘received pronunciation’; strong,overdone Oxford English accent

Lady Carol Cleveland-Lawson Johnston – Mature female with strong Scottish accent.

Narrator Mature male or female.

Hugo Chiddingfold, a boyish 29. Rather silly.

Dora, Hugo’s fiancée. Early 20s.

Mother (Lady Chiddingfold), mid-50s. Speaks very correctly and firmly.

Father (Sir Clive Chiddingfold), 87. Gruff, loud, very correct accent.
Manners, the Butler. Obsequious tone of voice, trying hard to be very correct.

Charles Chiddingfold, younger than Hugo. Pompous, try hard.

Ruth Chiddingfold, younger than Charles. A ‘modern’ woman, rather outspoken.

Jehovah Witness 1 – Any British accent

Jehovah Witness 2 – Any British accent

Dr Farson – Male, 70ish, Scottish country accent.

‘Madge’ – conversation heard over telephone, muffled voice. Possibly pre-recorded.

Experience is not required, we just want to have fun and entertain our audience!

We also need set designers; stage hands; set builders; sound effects, costume, hair and make-up designers
