The Foundation (the Boonah and District Cultural Foundation) is an independent incorporated association, run by the community for the community, to provide opportunities for artists, writers, singers, musicians and performers of all ages to develop and display their talents. The Foundation also provides bursaries for further education in related pursuits and organises professional classical concerts by international artists at very reasonable prices. While these activities are mainly for Boonah and district, there is no restriction on participants from other communities.
The Foundation believes that a strong cultural community enriches the social and economic prosperity of the community.
Foundation events 2019:
The Boonah Writers Festival Saturday 4th May and Sunday 5th May.
A great opportunity to gain insights and inspiration from established writers and industry professionals. Sessions include Ghostwriting, Romance, Editing, Crime, Forensics and Travel. All sessions include lunch, morning and afternoon tea with a delicious 3-course dinner on Saturday evening with guest speaker Shane Webcke. The Writers Festival attracts many registrations from around South East Queensland.

Classical Concert. Saturday 10th August
The Berlin based Lazarus String Quartet featuring the music of Mozart, Bartok, and Beethoven, for their only regional event in Australia.
The Boonah Arts Festival. Saturday 31st August to Saturday 6th September.
A week of events in September including; an Art competition and art viewing throughout festival week, a Writing competition with special encouragement for young writers, a Fashion design competition from the classical to the quirky set in a glittering catwalk setting. Total cash prizes for the competitions is over $7000. There is fun and humour with the Community Pub Choir and the great Debate and stirring and heart warming music in the Red Rim Concert by the combined Redlands Shire and Boonah Town Bands.
Bubbles and Books, Friday 1st November
A precursor to the Bookfest giving members first chance to peruse and purchase the books, in relaxed atmosphere, with a glass of wine and nibbles.
The Boonah Bookfest Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd November.
A gigantic sale of over 20,000 used books bringing book lovers from near and far.
The Annual General Meeting. Wednesday 20th November
An early morning meeting to report on the activities and finances of the Foundation for 2017 – 2018 and the election of the management committee accompanied by a hot buffet breakfast.
Christmas Concert. Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd November
Benjamin Britten’s exquisite “A Ceremony of Carols" plus a variety of music with a Christmas flavour by The Fassifern Voices.
The Foundation would not survive without the generous sponsorship $15,000 for the Arts Festival by Ritchies Supa IGA, $5,000 from the Scenic Rim Council, and $850 for the Writers Festival dinner by Mitre10. And, of course, the small army of volunteers from members and friends of the Foundation.
